Close to 25,000 Lost Power in Queensland and Victoria Following Severe Storms
Approximately twenty-five thousand residences in southeastern Queensland were left experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after powerful weather events passed over the region, bringing strong winds reaching over 100 km/h.
Massive Frozen Precipitation and Extensive Damage
Residents reported large ice chunks measuring up to 7cm in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology verified that different parts across Queensland had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were attempting to repair power throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams activated to address the widespread outages.
Victorian Climate Difficulties
At the same time, around 1,000 households in Victoria also experienced power outages after Melbourne saw its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.
Emergency response teams received over five hundred emergency reports across the area, mostly for property damage but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

- Wyndham area - nearly 180 help reports
At one point on yesterday, more than 28k power users in the state were experiencing outages.
Meteorological Predictions
Moist weather were predicted to continue along significant areas of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.
Tuesday was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with ongoing thunderstorm potential expected across different parts of both states.
Health Warning
Health officials cautioned that there was an increased chance of weather-related respiratory issues across the state's northern country region, specifically given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This caution comes after past events where analogous circumstances led to significant health impacts in the area.
